Andal Romano Joan
I began to paint and create mixed-media artwork in 2010. My journey began when I visited Paris, France, for the very first time. I had an argument with "someone" at Le Louvre. My claim in being an artist was in question. The root of my anger stems from the fact that being an 'artist' is not because of what I do but it is because of who I am. This argument pressed my reset button and the rest as they say is history. I married my critic at Le Louvre and blew wide-open the double doors into my creative vault. I grew up in Toronto, where diversity and the spirit of acceptance is still the norm. The multi-cultural mix and historical backdrop I witnessed in my childhood, as a Torontonian, are my everlasting muses. My very first art exhibition was held at the A.M. Gallery in 2011 and then I participated in several juried Toronto group art exhibitions such as: SpeakEasy's 16th Annual Fine Art Show at The Gladstone and The 9th Annual Queen West Art Fair at The Gladstone. Overcoming my fear in showcasing my artwork; happened at The Gladstone. I then held my first solo art exhibition at the former Hangman Art Gallery and the show was listed by NOW Magazine under MUST-SEE shows. I continue to showcase my artwork in galleries located in the heart of downtown Toronto. I am currently a member of the Fine Arts Society of Milton, Artists' Network and Artists Toronto (listed as a Featured Artist since 2011).
