Fox Cranston Sharon
Art is an undeniable necessity, an intrinsic element that defines Sharon’s life. From her first Crayola - she was hooked. Born in Christchurch, England; at 6 months of age, her family boarded the Empress of England and sailed for Canada. Growing up in King City Ontario, Sharon has always been interested in the arts. Over the years she has studied with some of the most eminent painters and pastelists in North America. Her impressionistic painting style retains the integrity of the subject while still being loose enough in application to actively challenge the viewer to interpret the work for him or herself. Sharon is a designated Master Pastelist member of Pastel Artists Canada (MPAC), a Signature member of the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA) and the Pastel Society of America (PSA). An avid plein air painter, her focus is on the texture, colour and rhythms of the rural and urban landscape. She particularly enjoys taking her art outdoors and has painted many of her works "en plein air" in Canada, France, Italy, the UK and USA. Sharon’s work hangs in private and corporate collections both here and abroad.
